Inspiring View

Winter Morning Window

When I look up from the design rendering I am working on, this is my view.

When I look up from the design rendering I’m working on, this is my view.

When I’m not out consulting at a clients home or office, I work from home.  I have a large studio which houses all of my samples (thousands of them), cutting table and various machines.  It’s very utilitarian for maximum productivity.

Portable technology allows me to easily move around from room to room when I am designing on the computer.  Depending on the season and my mood I pick a place to work where I’ll be inspired.

I’m in need of warmth and lots of comfort today.  The dining room is my office du jour.  There’s no better place to inspire designs than looking up to see a beautiful arched top custom window treatment.  The custom upholstered chair is a cozy place to talk on the phone and enjoy the daylight.  Looking through the window, I dream of warmer temperatures so I can go work in the gazebo.  Nature always inspires me as these delicate flowers are a reminder of my mom, sweet Violette.

I realize it’s not just rooms I’m designing for my clients. I am designing spaces to comfort, warm and nurture them.  With all of this beauty surrounding me, I may glance up a little more often to think and reflect. Work will get done, perhaps a little slower…

Elegant Arch Top Window

Custom made elegant swags and panels dress this arched top window for a home office/library in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.  A few weeks ago I wrote about this project In The Studio.  The yardage and rendering have become a reality.

Here is the rendering I showed my client so she could see how the design was going to look in her room.

We are working on this arched top window treatment for a home office/library.  I use Studio to design the treatment right on a photo of the client’s window.  The fabric selections are inserted into the line drawing.  All of the details are given so there are no surprises.

This is what the window looked like when I went to consult with the client.

HELP! This window needs to be dressed!

The fabrics and trimmings have arrived.  Don’t you just love the richness of that brocade?  It is going to go with so many things.  By the way the client selected the beads instead of the tassel trim.  They will be so fun when they capture the sunlight.
